- I am currently (17.7.1997) reorganising the whole comms area. New and
- updated parts will show up every now and then, currently the uucp/
- dir and the internet/ dir were reorganised and updated.
-
- The focus will somewhat move to internet software, as I am myself
- interested in that topic and therefore I am able to keep up with
- all the new versions popping up as I am using most of the packages
- myself.
-
- Please be a little patient during reorganisation. It will take some
- time.

- READ THE "README" FILE IN THE PUB DIRECTORY FOR CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
-
- THIS ANONYMOUS FTP SERVICE IS NOT A PART OF THE SERVICE DEFINITION OF THIS
- MACHINE. IT IS PROVIDED ONLY WHILE THERE ARE FILESTORE RESOURCES AVAILABLE
- TO SUPPORT IT.
-
-
- NOTE: To get a descriptive listing of the contents of the directory enter
- the command "dir" at the ftp prompt. You can use a regular expression in
- addition to limit the list ie. "dir wi*" will describe all the files
- begining with the string "wi". The descriptions that used to be at the end
- of this list are no longer provided.
-
-
- The software here should be either public domain, shareware or copyright
- software with explicit permission to freely distribute. Anything else will
- be removed. (Programs typed in from magazine listings or supplied on `free'
- magazine cover disks are almost always copyright material and distribution
- is limited.) Most of the software here has been archived using the !Spark 2
- application and has no suffix. Some files may have suffixes with indicate
- how they have been compressed and/or archived if !Spark 2 has not been used.
-
- The files should be ftp'ed using binary mode, and then unpacked using David
- Pillings !SparkPlug application. A copy of this is available in the file
- splug2.uue file. This is a UU encoded file which can be decoded using the
- uud program. ie
-
- 1. Ftp as binary the arc.uue, uud and splug2.uue files.
- 2. *settype uud absolute and move it into Library.
- 3. uud arc.uue and move the arc program into Library.
- 4. uud splug2.uue
- 5. create directory "!SparkPlug"
- 6. move the splug2_arc file into !SparkPlug and *dir !SparkPlug
- 7. arc -x splug2_arc
- 8. *settype obeyme obey
- 9. click on obeyme to run it
- 10. delete arc.uue splug2.uue
-
- This should have created an application called "!SparkPlug". The arc and
- uud programs are useful so don't delete them.
-
- Most of the packages have !help or readme files which detail the conditions
- of use and give further information about the package and the author. Any
- problems using the software should be directed at the authors and not me as
- I don't neccessarily use (or have even unpacked and tried) the packages
- presented here. Any problems with the files in the archive should be
- reported to me - especially any viruses or copyright issues.
-
- The language word lists are, as far as I know, are not available elsewhere
- in the RiscOS Latin 1 character set. The French, Dutch and Italian lists
- contain correctly (I hope) accented characters. The German list is plain
- ASCII at the moment as I don't know sufficient German to correct it. (Not
- that I know that much French, Dutch and Italian :-))
-
- If you have any suitable packages that you would like to upload then please
- ftp them info the incoming/riscos directory and then email me at the address
- below. PLEASE check for virus infection before uploading. PLEASE check the
- copyright status (it is a non-trival exercise to scan every package looking
- for a copyright notice hidden away somewhere.) A one line description
- similar to those provided would be helpful. If the package is NOT archived
- using the !Spark 2 application please include a comment indicating how the
- file should be decoded. I don't unpack and then rearchive items that are not
- archived using !Spark 2.
-
- Finally, "caveat emptor", this is a distribution service not a validation
- service. The packages presented here may or may not be suitable for running
- on your particular Archimedes machine.
-
- Thanks go to...
-
- RiscMan <s2105995@spectrum.cs.unsw.oz.au> for providing a large number of
- the packages despite flakey network connections between Manchester and Oz.
-
- Those people kind enough to let me know the true copyright nature of some
- items that have been, let us say, `modified' by persons unknown :-)
-
- Simon Burrows, who's PD software list I placed on the server without asking
- first but said it's OK.

- === Angband 2.7.8, RISC OS Release 2 ===
-
- Angband has been ported to RISC OS by Kevin Bracey (kevin@iota.co.uk).
-
- This is the second official release of RISC OS Angband. Any suggestions,
- complaints, etc will be welcomed.
-
- Angband will run on any machine with RISC OS 3.10 or later, and 2Mb
- of RAM. (The application currently requires about 992K of memory).
-
- This directory contains four Spark archives:
-
- ang2782.spk The RISC OS desktop Angband 2.7.8 application.
-
- toolbox.spk Toolbox modules required to run Angband
- on pre-RISC OS 3.60 machines.
-
- ang2782t.spk "Update" (Downdate?) to Ang2782.spk to make it
- run outside the desktop. Might be useful for
- slower/smaller machines.
-
- sourcextra.spk Compilation instructions + utilities, plus
- the latest version of main-acn.c.
-
- To start playing Angband you only need download the first two
- archives.
-
- The official Angband archive is at ftp.cis.ksu.edu, in the directory
- /pub/Games/Angband/Angband-2.7.x/
-
- The archive Toolbox.spk has not changed since release 1.
- SourceXtra.spk now contains all necessary bits to allow you
- to recompile Angband using the (pre-Acorn) Angband 2.7.8
- source tree.
